The Referral Process and Early Shortlisting Stage

In 2022 the most common way that charities learned about HelpFilm, was through social media and Charity sector newsletters.

Now in 2023 we use our amazing partner stakeholders to spread the word for us

referral Form

If you are a charity looking to make a video then please take the time to complete our referral form below.

Once the form is completed and it is successful at this stage, we ask the charity to meet with the Creative Engagement and Communications Manager to discuss the film idea and the charity in more depth. The details of this meeting, together with the referral form and charity website, are shared with our team and we then decide whether to give the project the ‘green light’. The charity is then invited to another meeting with our Founder and Creative Engagement and Communications Manager to discuss the details of the film, and to assign a relevant filmmaker.

We try to meet with all charities that have answered our questions on the referral process to the best of their ability.

We only reject charities at this stage if:

  • The referral form is incomplete

  • The organisation is not a charity or registered

  • The Charity already has an impressive film portfolio online

  • The charity has an income above the £1 million limit we ask for

  • The charity is a duplication of a charity that HelpFilm have already worked with

  • The charity is in it’s early stages of operating and impact cannot be measured

  • The charity is not clear about what the charity is trying to achieve and nor does any of the marketing surrounding the charity answer this

Whilst we do not take these rejections lightly, we do want to make sure that we work with charities that are serious about having a film and the benefits of it for the charity’s mission. We always make sure that we are transparent about this decision and ensure that the charity understands the reasons why they may have been rejected.

HelpFilm Is A Registered Charity (No. 1189012)
